Where before I focused on the infrastructure and amenities of that place, here I'll be talking more about the experience that it is trying to create for the persons who stay there. Let me begin.

First of all, the Kotoka International Airport is only a short drive away from this Accra hotel. For convenience, the hotel provides a shuttle bus for free so this will take away some of the hassle of tourists and travelers having to make use of public transportation once they arrive in the city of Accra.

This Accra hotel offers an expedited reception. What this means is that, even at the airport, a service is in place so that a traveler can already pre-register for the hotel, without having to leave the airport. This pre-registration acts as an advanced check in so that upon arrival at the actual hotel, the check in process there will be that much more rapid, and the traveler can proceed more quickly to enjoy the amenities.

Check in time for the rooms is anytime after 2 p.m. In the event there may be some difficulty during the arrival at the hotel, there are information desks available in both the main lobby and the business center.

If you happen to get yourself an executive suite, you can then proceed to take advantage of its private jacuzzi. If you get yourself an executive apartment, then you will also have access to your own living room area, as well as a small kitchen. If you would rather have space all to yourself, away from the other guests, you could choose to stay in one of the chalets.

With respect to meals at the hotel restaurant, a healthy food line is offered for the more health conscious. What this means is that the meals served here are low in fat, low in calories, and have no preservatives.

Check out time is anytime before noon. The hotel steps in to provide the forms necessary to expedite the process of going through the airport. Again, a free shuttle bus is offered in order to make the trip to the airport from this Accra hotel that much more convenient.

Accra Hotels | Review #1

In this particular Accra hotel post, I will be discussing my impressions of one of the more prominent Accra hotels, the Golden Tulip, a 4 star hotel.

From what I've read, the Golden Tulip contains 234 rooms. There are various types of rooms available, and some of the specifics include 206 standard and executive rooms, 16 chalets, 6 apartments, 4 junior suites, and 2 executive suites.

The hotel possesses 7 rooms for meetings. It can accomodate conferences of up to 100 persons, and cocktail receptions of up to 450 persons. The hotel can also provide needed equipment, such as overhead projectors, lcd projectors, public address systems with microphones, and systems for simultaneous translation during conferences.

This Accra hotel also has its own restaurant, the Ahengua Grill, which offers a daily buffet whose menu is changed daily, as well as a la carte menus.

The location of this hotel appears to be rather convenient. It would appear that it is located in the business district of the city of Accra, from which museums, markets, government offices, a shopping mall, and restaurants, among others, can be easily visited. An international airport is located near the hotel, as are a number of beaches.

Also, it must be noted that the Golden Tulip is proud to inform potential visitors that it offers wireless internet access, available throughout the hotel, that is, in all hotel rooms, as well as the public areas.

The hotel offers a list of amenities which can be taken advantage of either on the hotel premises themselves, or nearby. These amenities include: a business center, a lounge, parking facilities, laundry services, valet services, a casino, and a pool.

I'll stop there. I will add more information about this particular Accra hotel over the coming posts.

Accra Hotels | Privacy Policy

I value the privacy of visitors to this Accra hotel blog, and I am committed to protecting my visitors' privacy while viewing this site, http://accrahotel.blogspot.com. Let me explain.

The news coming out of Africa tends to be bad. There are many stereotypes. but there has also been a lot of interestingly good news coming out of some of the African countries, one of which is Ghana. An article in a magazine I respect identified Ghana as one of the bright spots in Africa. In spite of the current global crisis, Ghana is looking to grow by a good margin this year. That is not to say that Ghana is immune to the financial situation, or has somehow completely decoupled from the world economy. That said, it appears to find itself in a position of national growth, whereas many other countries are looking at much more problematic situations.

Furthermore, it appears that Ghana has relatively good governance on its side. There is a key election going on, but the people of Ghana are hopeful that it and its aftermath will be peaceful.

Finally, there has been a recent discovery of oil deposits off the shores of the country. That oil, coupled with the other natural resources found in Ghana, and in light of the demand by growing countries for these types of resources, has led to optimism regarding the country's economic future.

So this is a country which currently appears to be in a good place, with the promise of an even brighter future. I wanted to read about this, learn more, and write about it. That said, the idea of writing about an entire country doesn't appeal to me. I wanted to have a focus. and I decided that that focus would revolve around the country's tourism.

Hence, my discussion of Accra hotels and resorts in Ghana. My sense is that, if the country maintains course, and continues to improve its status, then tourism related businesses, such as Accra hotels and resorts, will make gains. By writing about these travel establishments in this Accra hotel blog, in a way, I'll be studying what is something of a proxy for the wider economy.

Accra Hotels | Technorati

I am using this Accra hotel post to attempt to claim this blog on Technorati.

Technorati Profile
